30 – Parasite – 2019

Parasite is a 2019 South Korean drama thriller which also contains aspects of black comedy. The film was shown for the first time on 21st May 2019 at Cannes Film Festival, where it became the first film from South Korea to receive a Palm d´or. It was the first film since 2013 to win with a unanimous vote from the jury, the previous film to do so being Blue is the Warmest Colour. It received a lot of praise from critics and in general, was considered the best film of the year. The box office took in 128 million dollars worldwide, turning it into the highest earning release and the nineteenth most profitable film in South Korea. It was also awared four Oscars.
