It’s a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American film directed and produced by Frank Capra. It’s based on the story The Greatest Gift, written by Philip Van Doren Stern in 1939 and privately published in 1943. The film is an American cinema classic and it has become a Christmas tradition to show the film on television. Despite originally being a box office failure due to its high production costs, the film managed to become a classic.
