One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a comedy drama film from 1975, directed by Miloš Forman. It’s based on the book Ken Kesey with the same title. The main roles were played by Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Brad Dourif, and Will Sampson. It won several international awards and was the second film to receive the five main Academy Awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. This feat had only been achieved before by “It Happened One Night” in 1934. After One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the next film to manage this feat was The Silence of the Lambs in 1991. However, it is the only film of the three that also received five awards in the Golden Globes.
