4. The Great Swim

Buddhilini De Soyza took this photo of five cheetahs swimming in the national reserve Maasai Mara in Kenya. The river had experienced a strong period of rain, causing floods and a never before seen strong current. The photographer spent hours anxiously watching the group looking for a safe part of the river to cross. Keep in mind that where there were calmer zones, there was a risk of encountering crocodiles. Eventually, these majestic animals managed to cross to the other side of the river. In fact, they have gained fame worldwide, given that normally cheetahs are solitary animals. In Kenya, the group is known as the Tano Bora, the Magnificent Five.
