It may not be top of your list of things to see when visiting the Big Apple, but we like the grit and determination behind this little landmark. David Hess was so irked by the demolishment of his apartment and its surroundings (in order to make way for new subway lines), that when all that remained of the property was this tiny triangular piece of paving, he made sure everyone knew who it belonged to and had “Never been dedicated for public purposes” inscribed across it.
