The Departed is a 2006 American film. It is a police thriller directed by Martin Scorsese and written by William Monahan. It stars a long list of renowned actors including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg, with Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga and Alec Baldwin in secondary roles. It won the Oscar for the Best Motion Picture in the 79th Academy Awards. Scorsese received the Oscar for the Best Director, Thelma Schoonmaker the Best Achievement in Film Editing and William Monahan won Best Adapted Screenplay.
