Slovenia is a small country located in Eastern Europe. It is at the meeting point of four major European regions: the Alps, the Dinaric Alps, the Pannonian Basin and the Mediterranean. Its territory has been a part of many different states throughout history, such as the Roman and the Byzantine Empire. Each one has left its mark, enriching the country’s culture and heritage. Other important attractions include the Julian Alps, Soča Valley, Mount Triglav, and Postojna Cave – which is Slovenia’s most visited attraction. With the development of sustainable tourism by the government of Slovenia, there has been an upward trend in the number of tourists visiting the country since 2012.
