Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)

This action-adventure game was developed by Team Ninja for Xbox and launched by Temco in 2004. Step into the shoes of Ryu Hayabusa, on a mission to reclaim a stolen sword and get revenge for the slaying of his clan. The game was developed over a period of five years and was designed with Western players in mind. Fun fact: Due to the explicit violence present in the game, it was difficult to classify the age limit and it ended up being censured in a number of places. One of the cool things about this Ninja Gaiden is that Tecmo made use of the Xbox internet connection and held various international tournaments, breaking the record for number of players competing for a place in its physical final at the 2014 Tokyo Game Show. The original is undeniably very difficult, but the franchise version for Xbox gave players real satisfaction in terms of getting to grips with its combat system.
