7 – Djibouti

Djibouti is on the Horn of Africa, located south-east of Ethiopia. The capital is Djibouti and it is bordered by the Red Sea to the east. The country has a low economy, with 82% of its GDP based on the service sector, though it still falls above the African average. Its beautiful beaches and natural areas have not yet been exploited. The government is therefore planning to focus on tourism, for business and pleasure, in order to expand the economy. It receives around 51,000 visitors each year, a rather low figure considering the country’s potential.
