Rear Window is a 1954 American film based on the story of 1942 “It Had to Be Murder”, by Cornell Woolrich. It was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, Raymond Burr and Thelma Ritter. It was awarded the New York Film Critics Circle Award and the National Board of Review in the same year of its release, thanks to the role of the future Monacan princess. One year later, it won the Edgar award for the Best Motion Picture, awarded to John Michael Hayes. It was also nominated for several Oscars in 1955 for the Best Director, Best Cinematography, in Colour, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound.
