The first thing alerting us to the difficulty of this game is the tagline below the title: “Don’t make deals with the devil.” And there you have it. The game was developed and published by Canadian StudioMDHR. What’s fascinating and unmissable about the title is its bizarre graphics, inspired by cartoons from the 1930s. Creators wanted to reproduce the subversive and surreal qualities of illustrations from that era. For this reason, the game’s animations were developed using the same techniques, using Rotoscopio. The story is based around two brothers that have to defeat various creatures in order to settle their debt with the devil. The height of its success came in 2017 (it was launched 29 September that year), selling around 2 million copies.
