Located in Turkey, this semi-arid UNESCO World Heritage region is famous for its fairy chimneys wide rock columns that have a very peculiar shape. The relief consists of a high plateau over 1000 m high which is pierced by volcanic peaks, Mount Erciyes (ancient Argaeus) near Kayseri, being the highest at 3916 m. The area is a popular tourist destination, as it has many areas with unique geological, historic, and cultural features. The most famous activity there is Hot-air ballooning.
