Vostok Station

Vostok Station is located 1,300 km (800 miles) from the South Pole, right in the centre of the East Antarctic Plateau.

If experiencing temperatures of -90 degrees Celsius might seem insane, things could be worse: according to a study in 2018, the temperature can drop even to -98 degrees Celsius. How? Because of a factor found in conditions of extreme dryness due to water condensation on the atmosphere with isolation conditions generating extreme cold.

In conclusion, of all the frozen places we’ve been talking about, Vostok Station is the only one where no one could withstand the extreme temperatures and live there for over a year.
