6. The Starship Enterprise, Vulcan, Alberta

Although this once sleepy little town was originally named after the Roman god of fire, Star Trek gave the town and its name a whole new significance. Residents jumped at the chance to cash in on the show’s success and built a 31-foot replica of the Starship Enterprise, as well as a bunch of tourist attractions related to the popular series. It worked out, with the Vul-Con Star Trek Convention continuing to be held there annually.
