5 – Headless Vikings of Dorset
Share
As revealed in the title, these mysterious human remains were discovered in the town of Dorset, by track workers. Although they were initially thought to be modern-day bodies, these remains have been dated back to the 10th century and have also been found to belong to Viking warriors. They correspond to a bloody battle that took place between Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, which ended in the total slaughter of the latter. This discovery was important because it helped to understand a little better the war tactics used by the Vikings and their relations with other peoples.
